Pura Vida began when these two dudes traveled to Costa Rica after college and met locals who were making and selling a few bracelets a week but living in very poor conditions. The bracelets are simple and pure, which serves as a reminder to the costa rican lifestyle. With the intention of helping out their local friends, the dudes (Griffin and Paul) brought a bunch of these bracelets back to Cali with them in hopes that they would be a success. And they are! Five years later and today Pura Vida has gained over 100 jobs for local Costa Ricans and donated almost a million dollars to charity. Insane!
If you love something- seriously stick wit it! Today Mags and I were talking to our friends Nola and Wyeth about starting their own clothing company because they're both trendy af and have great taste in athletic wear (athleisure as we've been calling it :P). Starting a business while in or just out of college may sound like too fat of a stretch to make happen for a number of reasons (money, time commitment, patience). But with the amount of connections, friends and inspiration you are given while at school I think there's never a better time to look for support and motivation being in this environment.
